Safiya is a clinical pharmacist with over 12 years’ experience in healthcare. With a qualification in migration, culture, and global health, she has a broad perspective on healthcare challenges and solutions. Currently, she is pursuing an MSc in AI and data science, alongside certifications in MATLAB, SNOMED CT, and Azure.

Her work includes research on improving patient safety through data insights from electronic patient records and she is currently developing her MSc dissertation on machine learning applications in healthcare. Being passionate about the convergence of technology and healthcare,  she aims to harness the power of AI to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in healthcare.

Safiya is particularly interested in the practical applications of programming languages and looks forward to learning more about this during her internship at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. She is also keen to expand her knowledge in project design and effective presentation of research outcomes.
